Types of refrigerator

  • Top Freezer Refrigerator

The classic refrigerator style is Top Freezer Refrigerator and that’s been a kitchen mainstay for decades. But still top freezer refrigerator has some cons like - less energy-efficient, may not be ideal for some customers, but the low cost of these models may be an agreeable trade off. The additional benefit of this model is a small door swing space, making them ideal for kitchens with limited area.

  • Bottom Freezer Refrigerator

For the energy efficiency the bottom freezer refrigerator is at the top of that list of preference from the customers. This model is extremely popular for feature of having the refrigerator section directly at eye level. Many people also prefer the model for this convenience which makes it easier to quickly find what they need.

But before you buy, just get through the basic functionality of the different parts of the machine. Scroll down to gather the basic info.

The most commonly used method of refrigeration is the vapour-compression system. It is simply a process of transporting heat from one place to another. The main Refrigerator Parts are the condenser, the compressor, the evaporator and the expansion valve.

    1. Condenser

The main function of condenser is to liquefy the refrigerant gas sucked by the compressor from the evaporator. Condensation changes gas to a liquid form.

    2. Compressor

To pull the low-temperature and low-pressure vapour from the evaporator, compressor is used. The main function of compressor is
      • To transform a low-temperature vapour in to a high-temperature vapour,
      • To increase pressure.
    3. Evaporator

The function of the evaporator is just opposite to condenser. It turns any liquid material into gas. The evaporator transfers heat from the refrigerated space into a heat pump through a liquid refrigerant.
    4. Expansion Valve

Commonly placed at the end of the liquid line and before the evaporator, after the liquid refrigerant has been condensed the expansion valve is reached to the liquid refrigerant.
    5. Freezer Fan Motor

The Freezer fan motor is used to cool the compressor. During maintenance you should take care to not to bend the fan blade. The aluminium blade can vibrate furiously and can cause early breakdown.
    6. Filter/dryer

The filter/dryer protects the compressor and filters the dirt and iron particles from the refrigerant. It restricts and filters the impurities and moisture contents in the refrigerant. It also removes moisture from the refrigerant. Some filter Dryer contains moisture absorbent materials like, Silica gel or synthetic silicates.
    7. Accumulator

Accumulator stores refrigerant as it is a refrigerant tank. It does so that the evaporator will not run out of it. The refrigerating unit will exhibit the symptom of refrigerant starvation, without an accumulator.
