The buttons were no longer reacting correctly on our appliance ended up being caused by a failing part. Had to double check model compatibility first and the replacement solved it.

Took around thirty minutes from start to finish while replacing the old component because the refrigerator would reboot intermittently. Noise issue disappeared after replacement.
